Professional Cyber Security Services
Realistic, facilitated incident scenarios that prepare plant, engineering, security and executive teams to make the right decisions when a cyber attack reaches operations.
An OT cyber incident forces decisions that most organizations have never rehearsed. Do you isolate the plant network and risk losing visibility? Who has the authority to shut down a line? When do you call the equipment vendor, the regulator, the insurer or law enforcement? How do you know the control logic can be trusted when you restart?
White Knight Labs OT Tabletop Exercises put these questions in front of the people who will have to answer them. Our facilitators draw on real-world OT incidents and offensive security experience to build scenarios that feel credible to engineers and executives alike, then guide participants through the response in a structured, low-pressure setting.
A focused session for senior leadership covering business impact, safety, communications, regulatory notification, ransom decisions and when to restart operations.
A detailed exercise for plant managers, control engineers, OT and IT security, and maintenance teams, working through detection, containment, manual operations and recovery.
A staged scenario in which technical and leadership groups respond in parallel and must coordinate, which exposes handoff and communication gaps between IT, OT and the business.
At White Knight Labs, we understand that network security is not a one-size-fits-all challenge. We test a wide range of environments, including:
Ransomware spreading from the corporate network and encrypting HMIs and historians
Unauthorized changes to controller logic discovered during a routine shift
A compromised remote access account used by an equipment vendor
Loss of visibility at a remote substation, pump station or site
Insider misuse of engineering workstation access
A supply chain compromise in a firmware update or engineering software package
Injects are released over the course of the exercise to reflect how incidents develop: partial information, conflicting reports, media inquiries and pressure to resume production.
Tabletop exercises consistently surface issues that are hard to find any other way. Incident response plans often assume the network is available when it is not. Contact lists are out of date. The authority to shut down or restart a process is unclear. Backups of controller logic exist but no one has tested restoring them. Our facilitators document these gaps as they emerge and turn them into specific improvements.
We review your existing incident response plans, OT architecture, escalation procedures and regulatory obligations, and interview key stakeholders.
We design one or more scenarios and injects aligned with your objectives, and agree on participants, format and timing.
Our facilitators run the exercise on site or remotely, keep discussion on track and capture decisions, questions and gaps.
You receive a written report with observations, strengths, gaps and prioritized recommendations for plans, roles, tooling and training.
Regulators, insurers and customers increasingly expect evidence that organizations have tested their incident response capability, and frameworks, such as NIST SP 800-82, call for exercised response plans. A tabletop exercise is the lowest-risk, most cost-effective way to test that capability without touching production systems.
